Christmas Bells
I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men!
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Beautiful post Penny – Peace on Earth and good will to all men. This is the feeling I have, after all the pre-Christmas rush, the gathering together and fun and laughter, I am left with a great sense of peace.
Thank you, Marilyn. It is such a mellow, peaceful feeling after the holiday rush. I hope your are peaceful still.
Lovely….what a wonderful Christmas photo, and Longfellow to boot: Merry Christmas once more, Penny. Hope your Christmas is proving restful and happy.
Thank you, Kate. I had a long-winter’s nap type of sleep last night, so tired I was from our holiday, and am rested and ready to start part 2.
Beautiful Post….and “Every time a bell rings, an angel get its wings.
Thank you, Janet. I hope your was merry and bells were ringing for all those wingless angels. (It’s a Wonderful Life was on television the other night and, yes, I watched it again. So was The Bishop’s Wife – love the zany ice skating scene – skate to your seat).
In your post I can hear the bells ringing loud and clear from the northern to the southern hemisphere (it rhymes – the music of the bells is in me). Thank you. Peace and goodwill to you too.
What a delightful thought, Juliet – and a rhyme to boot. I wish the spirit of the Christmas season would carry through the whole year long.
What a lovely, simple poem. Your photo is perfect for it!
Thanks, Janet. It was just last year that I discovered this Christmas carol was really Longfellow’s poem.
