I am a lover of family and friends, books and food, gardening and gabbing and love to share stories and recipes, books and experiences with all who visit me here. I have the wonderful privilege of living with my husband and best friend Tom on two pleasant acres of nature in a delightfully wooded secret corner of Chicagoland where the deer and the antelope roam – okay, no antelope, but, plenty of voracious deer, woodchucks and orioles, and all such creatures.
Photos and text belong to the cutoff (aka me) unless otherwise noted.
I so enjoyed reading your blog today…. just found you through a link from Corey…. I, too, love old houses, old movies, and old books. Thank you for the info on Gladys Taber. Those older books take me back to my childhood in the 50′s and 60′s. I’ll be reading again….
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting about Gladys Taber’s books. I think you will enjoy them. You should be able to find them through your library system, amazon, even ebay!
What an interesting time we live in where we can both “meet” through a delightful blog from Corey in France. I read her every morning over a cup of tea or coffee.
Thank you SO much for stopping by my blog today and telling me about Stillwater, MN While I think it may be a while before I can visit Hay-on-Wye, I am only about a seven hours’ drive to MN and will definitely add this to the list of possible literary vacation destinations!
You are so welcome. I loved reading your blog. I think I wrote Way instead of Wye, but, I guess you know what I meant. Stillwater is a great little town that I’m sure you would enjoy with all sorts of bookstores, including one for philosophers, seminarians, theologians, and plain folks like me in an old and cold and rundown church that has plenty of charm. Thanks for stopping here.
What a lovely blog you have. I wandered in via A Work in Progress, mainly because you mentioned you were reading One Thousand White Women and I have that on my tbr pile. I stayed to read and like your blog enough to add it to my ‘following’ list. I hope that’s okay…
I’m so glad you stopped by, Cath, and thank you for adding me to your list. I’m flattered and yes it is okay.
I don’t know about you, but, my tbr pile is dangerously close to toppling and I’ve pages of lists as well. Life is grand!
Please let me know what you think of One Thousand White Women when you get to it and I will check your blog, which is so wonderful. I checked it out just now. I imagine you will post about it sometime. It is an interesting read and I can’t wait for our book group to discuss it.
Thanks for stopping by. Penny
Gosh yes, my tbr pile is a ‘mountain’. I’m horrified by the size of it and it’s all the fault of various book bloggers. Well mostly… And it doesn’t help that I’m a regular library user too. LOL.
Yes, I will post about the book. I try to post about everything I read but get a bit behind sometimes. Three books behind at the moment but am hoping to do a catch-up post this afternoon.
I’ll look for your posts. I have to admit that my piles of books has grown since I started reading blogs about books, but, I’m reading so many books I might not otherwise have read. What fun it is! Enjoy.
How funny life is… I hooked up through your blog through the Booksnob blog. I am paging through and see your post about the Oak Park Farmer’s Market. That’s where I live – and I love the market. I am now going to page through your book blogs….
Thank you!
Isn’t Rachel from Booksnob wonderful? I love her reviews of books, her writing style, and her zest for life and adventure. I’m so glad you stopped by and hope to see you here again. It is funny, indeed, you ending up here from a blogger who is from Britain, is currently living in New York, reading all things American, and on both of our radar screens.
I love Oak Park and your Farmers Market is the best there is. I am hoping to make one last trek there this weekend – and maybe some stone soup.
Thank you for stopping by, Julie. Penny
What a lovely blog! I wish I had a green thumb!
Thank you for stopping by. I’m not sure how green my thumb is, but, I sure do love to play in the dirt.
I am SO glad I stopped by…I found you through Kate Shrewsday’s fabulous blog–I so love the interconnecting! What a fabulous site you have have here! I’ll look forward to a regular diet! Debra
Please create a facebook page, yours is one of the few blogs where i stop by almost everyday thanks
