Driving home at dusk after a busy day, filled with meetings and weighty personal decisions and peppered with interesting conversations, I kept company with the early evening news on the car radio. The snow had stopped falling after not much ado, but, the pavement was wet and messy, the wipers constantly moving to clear the windows. A small annoyance, indeed, compared to the lives lost and the people injured and homeless after the devastating earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, the chaos in Libya, or the hundreds of other places today where natural or human disaster has rained down on civilization.
As I stopped for a long freight train to roll past, I found myself thinking, humbled as my thoughts went upward in prayer for so many today.
I agree, much is going on in our world.. I know God is in charge, but prayer is needed.

Thank you for your prayers Penny. The people of Christchurch, their family and friends need every prayer that is being said for them.
And as you mention, there are so many places in the world, so many people need our prayers and love.

Even though it’s the end of summer here, your sombre pictures match the mood of our country as we keep hearing of more dead from the Christchurch earthquake. My niece was lucky to be at work, because the house she was flatting in was demolished. Someone else I know has lost a family member. We can’t yet contact everyone directly. It is devastating. Your thoughts and prayers are much appreciated; thank you.

How wonderful it is Penny to feel your caring compassion from so far away. Our TV and Radio NZ has dropped all normal programmes and we have constant coverage of the disaster. It feels very surreal to imagine lovely Christchurch city collapsed. A very English city with lovely buildings..we may never see again. The world is so near nowadays as we live through revolutions and disasters and the caring of people for people is precious. God bless.

So many, many people are caring, Joan. The scenes we are getting are devastating. How true of our world being so near with our technology today and all we can see in a day. Here is hoping that all can rebuilt. Prayers are a might thing, indeed.

So much going on in the real world. Ten days of relaxation coupled with a little design work tends to put one out of the real world. So much going on in the world and we must always remember who is in charge! One thing I NEVER take for granted……………..thanks for the verbal reminder for all of us! m.a. ox
