Courage is hard to define. It is what comes to us, if it comes at all, in times of difficulty; spiritual, medical, emotional, tragedies. That which we face for which we have no reserves in abeyance. When we are in the barren desserts of life with no oasis in which to find rest, in unimaginable pain or unfathomable danger, forced to reach down deep into the wells of our souls for the courage to see us through.
For a small portion of the population, all one can possibly hope to find is the fortitude to face what one must face. That for there is no cure, no remission, no surgery that can stem the tide of time.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. ALS. Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons that deliberately robs the body of all voluntary muscle movement, paralyzing each and every muscle and eventually leading to death.
To a courageous woman who, with dignity and incredible fortitude courageously fought through ALS.
Rest in peace, dear Judy, rest in peace.
Amen. Praying for the family.
