Sorry, I got that wrong. It WAS the 2nd that just finished over here. The 3rd is starting in September 2012.

Thanks for catching that, Friko. I’ve corrected Julian’s name.
I loved the first season and it has felt like an eternity for the second to begin, especially since we await it here in the States knowing it has already aired across the Atlantic.
I understand there was a Christmas Downton Abbey as well. Our PBS/Masterpiece Theater will, I hope, air it next year.

Enjoy, Penny. 🙂 I haven’t seen the second series yet either, as I was away in Prague for much of it. My DH recorded it for me and I plan to watch it very soon, together with the Christmas special. I really loved the first series.

I’m sure I will. How lucky you are for you will be able to watch it without waiting each week, Perpetua. I’m really looking forward to this next season – and the Christmas special. I hope that we get to see it here next Christmas.

I’m in a tizzy as the anticipation has been growing for days now! All I am missing for complete enjoyment is some of those Peanut Blossoms to munch while we watch. Will be anxious to hear your thoughts on the episode tomorrow. Masterpiece has been a favorite since the days of Alistair Cooke. Do you remember him?

“tizzy” is just the word for the anticipation, Marilyn. Me too. I wish I could run over some Peanut Blossoms. I’d share them in an instant. Yes, I do remember Alistair Cooke. How sad his passing was, but, what a legacy in Masterpiece Theater.

Penny, almost everyone I know will be watching. It is so wonderful to have such a quality show on television and for the Anglophiles among us it couldn’t be better!
Enjoy!
Sunday xx

It really is, isn’t it, Sunday? I have friends who will watching as well, Anglophiles all. A wonderful way to start out the new year, is it not?

She is quite superb is Downton Abbey, Juliet. A word or two, a tilt of her head, and Maggie Smith has stolen another scene. With seven new episodes, this will take us through most of winter’s darkest Sunday nights. I will!

Yes. And again yes! I’ll be watching. And to know from Friko that there is a third series and now you mention a Christmas episode. This is a gift that keeps on giving!
Peace.

Won’t it be grand. I’ll think of you watching at the same time, Dee. Isn’t that grand? I do hope that Christmas episode finds us here next Christmas. I’m sure it will be a wonderful one. Enjoy!

Sheesh–how did I miss this? I was thinking it was beginning late in January–and I didn’t even get a chance to re-watch the first series. No matter–I’ll be tuning in later tonight…must get my chores done now! 🙂 Thanks for the reminder!

I missed this last year but last night I sat from 6pm – 10pm, watching first, the last show from season one and afterward, the first show from season two. I’m hooked!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Janet. Try to catch the first three episodes some time, though you are already hooked from last night. How did you wrestle the set from the boys?

The sneak attack of surprise! Nobody expects me to go near the tv but at about 5:50, when Declan and Eoin were doing something else, I sat down and turned on Channel 11 and they were advertising the upcoming 2nd season at 8pm. I probably wouldn’t have watched since I hadn’t seen it last year but then they went right into the show from last year so I stayed and watched. After that I was hooked and stayed for the show at 8pm. I’m sure Declan and Eoin were a bit disoriented by this. The last time I took over the tv was to watch the Diane Sawyer special about the Jacqueline Kennedy tapes a few months ago!

PBS rocks! We had company and I missed the episode — I hope they rerun it. I wonder if the first season is available on NetFlix.

I’m sure they will repeat it, Sallie. They usually do here. I do believe it is on NetFlix – worth checking. The second season did not disappoint.

Well, I missed it! Can’t believe it. But fortunately, with about four PBS channels, I’ll find it! I watched the first season on Netflix…Thank you, Penny! Debra

Aha! Not quite the same, but the PBS app on my iPad has last night’s episode. I’m so glad! Here’s the funny thing. I missed it last night because we watched multiple episodes of Monarch of the Glen…we were getting our British television in, just from the wrong decade! Debra

I’m glad you have the app, Debra, and found it so fast. You can watch it on your iPad until you find where it is repeating, probably the Prime PBS station. I’d actually like to see it again. One misses so much with the grandeur of the set at times. I’ll be interested in knowing if you enjoy it. I sure did.
We loved watching Monarch of the Glen. I wish it was repeated here again. Saturday nights for a time were Ballykissangel followed by Monarch of the Glen. Loved them both. Thanks for bringing that up.
