Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things!
Rodgers and Hammerstein/The Sound of Music
There were three, plump, yellow rose blossoms with promises of a Mother’s Day bloom. Alas, the wandering deer thought better of me having a few blooms for Mother’s Day and ate them as appetizers before chomping on what must have been a tasty salad of hosta leaves. Not to be left out, the chipmunks made a meal off of the pansies.
I have no raindrops on roses to show you, nor whiskers on kittens. I did manage a few dew drops on hostas and ferns showing shadows one of the few sunny days we have had.
Sunday is Mother’s Day here in the States, here’s a big thank our mothers.
I love the look into your rainy, misty garden. Your photos of raindrops and ferns are just lovely in spite of the deer and chipmunks chomping on things uninvited. I hope you get to enjoy a few of your favorite things and have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Thank you, Janet. It was a wonderful Mother’s Day; bright and sunny and just the right temperature. The deer and chippies behaved for once. They must have been warned by their mothers. I hope yours was a good one.

The sun did come, Karen. You, and Annie, brought good wishes over. I loved this movie, mostly because our Jennifer loved it so much as a little girl. My mom and I took her to see Annie when she was just five. She was Annie for Halloween and sang Tomorrow over and over and over again. I hope she sees the link. Thank you.

What bad luck – stealing your mother’s day roses. But the photos of ferns and shadows are a delight. Happy Mother’s Day! I’ve just had the family to lunch and was given a voucher for pampering at a spa.

I thought they were pretty nervy, Juliet, but no problem as I had a lovely Mother’s Day. Thank you. Oh, won’t you love that pampering some day soon? That was so nice of your family.

Penny: Loved your photos and the misty one of your driveway. Sorry about the uninvited dinner guests. . . . the nerve. But, then again, it was probably someones mother!!! Happy Mother’s Day to my dear blogging friend.
We flew up to Minnesota to be with our daughter. So nice to be here. It was a beautiful Spring day here with not a cloud in the sky.

I thought they were rather nervy myself, Mary Anne. Maybe I’ll forgive them – one day. tee hee
How wonderful that you were able to fly up north. I’m sure you’ve had a delightful time enjoying the Minnesota spring as it emerges now. Enjoy.

Those naughty deer! I have such mixed feelings every time you share about the wildlife getting so close as to do some damage…it must be a strange thing for you to consider also. You love the deer, and I know you enjoy having them close, but could they just not eat the roses! Your fern photos are actually quite beautiful themselves. I’m glad you’re getting a little sun now and I hope your Mother’s Day is lovely, Penny. I think it must be a very bittersweet time for those who have lost their mothers. I know my husband misses his mom every day, as do so many of my friends. Sending a hug your way, Debra

It is what I call a love/hate relationship, Debra. The deer are really so magnificent, if they just weren’t so pesty. It was a cool but sunny day here and a lovely Mother’s Day. It is bittersweet for those who have lost their moms. I was so lucky to have mine for the years I did and focus on that. Our neighbor’s mom died late last fall. It is still so raw and she was having a rough time today. I caught that hug and return one to you. Hope your dad continues to get better. Penny

Happy Mother’s Day, Penny! And, what drool-worthy photography. I think things turned out perfectly, in spite of the dang deer.

wonderful images as always…and made me think of my daughter and her best friend, going to a fancy dress party when they were about 12, dressed in white dresses with blue satin sashes. Have a lovely Sunday. J.

Poor Penny. 😦 Still, your raindrop photos are lovely and I do hope the sun comes out for you today. Happy Mother’s Day. We celebrated ours back in March in the UK.

It did come out, Perpetua, and warmed our little plot of earth with its sunniness. I know yours is a different month, but the sentiment is the same. Hope you have settled back into your home in Wales.

Lovely photographs and video. Interesting that The Sound of Music was one of my mother’s favorite movies so I got a bit weepy for a minute.
Sorry the deer are sampling your flower garden. There should be plenty of other tempting taste treats. Maybe the roses taste better!
Have a happy Mother’s Day and treat yourself to something special.

Music and movies can certainly bring out those tears, Marilyn. It is good to remember those moments though, even if we get a bit weepy.
Thank you. I think the deer know I’m very, very angry with them. They stayed clear today. Of course, Tom sprayed everything with deer repellent the other day. It will last for a while, then . . .

I guess so, Danielle. I am quite angry with them at the moment, but, I know a we will be seeing a few fawns in the next month of so and all will be forgiven.

Indeed I do, Sallie – as for the wildlife . . .
Gosh, it only took me two and half years to figure that out and it was really very easy with wordpress. I just couldn’t quite get it until now. You will figure it out, just when you least expect it.
Ah, those lists . . . Have a great day.
