Worrying is carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength – carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrows; it empties today of its strength.

Hers is a remarkable story, Kate. Somewhere I have an old tape of some of her lectures that are a joy to hear. This quote hit a chord with me and I just wanted to share it. You are welcome.

One of my greatest talents is to cross bridges before I get to them. Perhaps I should hang these words on my notice board in the kitchen.

What a thoughtful picture, and words, Penny. I will remember both next time I’m tempted to worry.

“tempted to worry” I like that, Juliet. Like chocolate or chips, worry is a temptation that can be resisted. Thank you for that.

I’ve struggled with worry my whole life, Penny. I’m getting better, but I will fight it until the day I expire. These words help. Any words that are anti-worry do. Thank you.

Dear Penny, Corrie Ten Boom was such a wise and exceptional woman at a time when the world seemed to be falling apart. Destroying itself. And right now in the United States we seem to be at another watershed time in history. So her words truly resonant with me because each day when I read the newspapers and watch the PBS Newshour and the local news, I find myself fretting over the follies of today. Thank you for sharing this quote which is a reminder to live in the moment really and that’s a place I so seldom inhabit. Peace.

Her words always resonate, I agree Dee, and there is wisdom and faith to be found from her. I am constantly striving to “live in the moment”. Let’s practice together, okay?

I have such a place in my heart for the words and experiences shared by Corrie Ten Boom. I was fortunate to see her speak in person at a local church and the entire audience sat in rapt attention. I think sharing her today is just perfect in timing. There is so much fear mongering going on, and it’s easy to catch hold of that fever. Bless you! D

You were fortunate, indeed, Debra, as was the audience Corrie Ten Boom spoke to. What a blessing that must have been that still stays with you. Let us hope that her words, so many of them, will seep through to the greater audience that is our culture now. Thank you.

This quote has gone into my journal along with these two on worry, a destructive force in my life that I struggle to control.
Mark Twain said, “I am an old man and have known a great many worries, but most of them never happened.” and
Mary Engelbreit wrote,”Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles. It empties today of its strength.”
Thank you for the wise words.
