I wanted to tell you about the long walk we took in the woods. I wanted to tell you how magnificent the prairie was, how the sun glistened on the water lilies, and how the path beckoned us to go further and further still. Instead, I’ll just show you. Okay?
Oh, this is sheer magic, and I can feel the silence descending as I walk with you through these woods. The water lily leaves look made out of silver.
I’ve just had a disappointment, because the library doesn’t have the Nancy Wood titles that I wanted.
Never mind, there’s nothing like an uplifting walk through woods on the other side of the globe, accompanied by a dear blog friend, to put things right. Thank you Penny.

I’m sorry to hear that your library doesn’t have these books, Juliet, but, I do appreciate the magic you felt. It was a wonderful walk and I am pleased to have taken you with. Thank you, Juliet.

Dear Penny, I, too, went for a walk yesterday. But it was around the perimeter of a parking lot! Quite a difference, although trees did border the lot. Thank you for taking us with you on your walk. Peace.

You are welcome, Dee. Even if there was just one tree, it was worth the walk. I just saw the movie “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” the other day. I love the book and the movie as well. That one tree growing in the sidewalk.

Thank you for this pretty dose of fall, Penny. It is 87 and humid here today. 😦 Your pictures cooled me off a little.

That would be so much fun, Janet. We could probably walk and talk our way up and down the 200 or so miles that separate us. Thank you.

Long way ’round to get your attention, Penny, but I know of no other route…..your current post “Two Old Women” isn’t linking up from my email; either by title, or via the Comments link. May want to check into it! 🙂

Thanks, Karen. I was having a problem with my server as I was composing “Two Old Women”. In the process, I hit publish before I was through writing and hurriedly deleted the post. Then, I lost what I had written and didn’t have the mental energy to rewrite. Sorry for the confusion. I hope to introduce you to these two old women soon.

WordPress is playing up, and won’t complete the link to your latest post. By putting in the address manually, I reached this one. I’ve been buried in tasks too, but then found unexpected delight. You found autumn treasure and I found spring surprises – have just posted about it. Synchronicity again.

Sorry, Juliet. As I mentioned to Karen above, it was actually my server acting up, then my own clumsiness that posted before I was ready and then my own frustration in which I lost it all. I should have just taken another walk. I can’t wait to go over and read about your spring surprises.

Is the house the old school house? Is it restored? Does someone live in it??

Nan, it is an 1880’s frame schoolhouse that replaced a log cabin school. It was moved to the current location in the 1950’s and turned into a nature center, called the Little Red Schoolhouse. It was still used as school in the ’40’s. I’m sure there has been some restoration, refurbishing to it. Until two years ago, it was still used as a nature center. There is a new, modern facility right next to it now and the building is closed. I’m not sure what it will next. The original site of the school is marked about a mile from this location, near the turn in the path of the second picture above. This is one of my favorite woods to walk in, aptly named the Little Red Schoolhouse Woods. Thank you for asking.
