Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.
Song of the Witches by William Shakespeare

Just one more for girls who wanna have fun – after the ads.
I just watched this entire video and felt like a teenager again, Penny. Thank you. 🙂
And, I love that scene in Lear.

I’m so glad, Andra. It was a favorite of our daughter Jennifer and I thought it might be fun on this gloomy day.

Will Moses has some neat pictures. I “discovered” him through a catalog offering in a magazine. I have the above picture and others in notecards which I like to use around Halloween (but forgot to get out this year) Song of the Witches is fun.. Happy Halloween!

He does, indeed, Joyce. We saw a great deal of Will Moses’ work when we were in Vermont about ten years ago and I’ve loved them ever since. The colors aren’t as crisp in this post, which is a shame as the oranges are so vibrant. Anyways, it’s not too late to put out those notecards and enjoy them. I love notecards. They can brighten up a room in an instant.

I love “Girls Night Out” and I never knew that poem was by Shakespeare. In fact, I only ever heard the first line of it!

Isn’t it fun? I have to admit I didn’t remember that it was Shakespeare, from Macbeth, until I saw it in an email I get with a poem a day. I’m sure you will have some trick-or-treaters today, Janet, and one of your own out collecting candy. Enjoy.

Love the picture. After two days in pre-k I have seen many fun Halloween pictures, including illustrations for a book about a skeleton with hiccups. His poor bones kept falling off as he went hic hic hic. Very funny. Enjoyed Girls Just Want to Have Fun. I haven’t heard it in ages. Cyndi and friends did look a little like cute witches with their wild hair dos and very colorful make-up. By the way, I really am not fond of hearing music that my kids listened to called “Classic.” Hee he. I guess I am Vintage.
Have a great Halloween and stay out of Double, double toil and trouble.

It’s a fun picture, isn’t it Janet? Ha! A skeleton with hiccups. Poor thing. I’m imagining lots of shrieks and giggle from the pre-k crowd with that one. Oh, my “Classic”? Are we Vintage? Already?
You, too, Janet. Makes me want to pull out the cauldron, but, I’ll probably get into trouble.

I was wondering if that video was for me:) Thank you! Brought back good memories of Miss Kinky Books (she is staring in that musical, right)?

My best ever Halloween was of course spent in Wisconsin….. I was in Sheboygan Falls 2 years ago for Halloween, and spent days wandering up and down every street, completely amazed at the efforts people had made. This combination of words and music is great. Jx

We’ve been amazed at how the Halloween industry has grown over the years, Janice, in this part of the world. I can only imagine what wonderful wandering you did in Sheboygan Falls. That sounds like a nice memory to have.
Thank you. It was fun to put together.

I loved reading this again. It’s been a long time! Scary things going on around here, too, Penny. Hope you enjoy some cute trick or treaters!

I’m delighted to hear that, Debra. It is fun to revisit some of these bits and pieces of the past. I’m thinking you had some fun with the girls tonight. We don’t get trick-or-treaters here. OUr drive is so long, the little goblins can get more treats elsewhere. I miss it. We had so many visitors in our other house.

Dear Penny, that Shakespeare had a way with words. And if that isn’t an understatement, I don’t know what is!!!!! Peace.

He certainly did, Dee. I need to be reminded of his wordsmithing now and again.

How fun that must have been, Sallie, and a challenging as well (at least for me). You are very welcome. It showed up on an email I get, a poem a day, which leads me to all sorts of adventures. Thank you, Sallie.
Here’s a bit more
Round about the cauldron go;
In the poison’d entrails throw.
Toad, that under cold stone
Days and nights hast thirty one
Swelter’d venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot.
