Busy days, cozy nights, and beginning preparations for Thursday’s Thanksgiving feast have been keeping me busy. The cranberry relish is marrying its flavors, the turkey is thawing out in the refrigerator, a new pumpkin pie recipe with chipotle is on the menu, and there are a few dust bunnies that need to be corralled.
What have you been up to?
I just took a look at that wonderful pumpkin pie recipe…then signed up for email notifications. I liked what I saw! 🙂 I have so many things to have done before Thursday, Penny, and I’m not even making moves in the right direction. I did do the shopping and I have “plans” to do something with them! LOL! I can’t quite figure myself out, but I think it will all come together. Others do contribute to the meal, so it will be okay. I am good under pressure! That’s what all procrastinators say, though, isn’t it! 🙂

Isn’t it an interesting recipe and site? There was another one from the show the pie came from with acorn squash, cranberries, brown sugar and marmalade that had my mouth watering.
I’m not making those right moves either, Debra. I know it will all get done. Still, I need to get a few more things from the store. I always forget something or take on a new direction (like this pie). Yes, that is what all procrastinators say, especially me! tee hee

Have a wonderful feast Penny; it all sounds delicious, and I hope that cold has gone out the window and been taken by the elements!

The cold is lingering a bit, Juliet. It just needs the scents of the season to come wafting through to make me all better. Thank you.

Well. I am happy to say that my Thanksgiving preparations consist of getting dressed to enjoy a feast at the University Club with a few friends here in my hometown. The Club puts on a remarkable spread of breakfast and traditional turkey dinner foods that it is quite amazing. Even smoked salmon. Wow. We never had that when I was growing up.
The day after, I am going to a friend’s house – who actually cooks – for leftover turkey sandwiches.
Not a dish to wash in sight!
Have a happy one.

Belle, that sounds delightfully elegant. I’m sure you will enjoy the food, the ambiance, and the company. Smoked salmon is so wonderful, isn’t it?
I always look forward to turkey sandwiches the next day. You will savor that as well, and, as you say, not a dish to wash. I love Thanksgiving. Enjoy preparing it, eating it, but I do not look forward to the cleanup, and I think it is the messiest of meals to wash up after.
You too, Belle. Thank you.

Dear Penny, I’m having Thanksgiving dinner with my brother and sister-in-law and three nieces and their families. We’ll gather at the home of one of nieces–Annette. As a vegetarian, I take an entree that I can eat instead of the turkey. This year I’ve made a recipe for stuffed squash. But instead of stuffing the two halves of an acorn squash, I’m going to cut the squash into pieces and put the stuffing on top of these and then bake it. I hope my recipe will turn out as a taste delight! But I just never know.
I hope you and yours have a lovely day of gratitude. Peace.

Dee, the squash and stuffing sounds divine. The link for the pumpkin pie recipe leads to another one for acorn squash that is stuffed with cranberries, brown sugar and some marmalade. I’m not going to make it for Thanksgiving, as the table will already be groaning, but, I might make it tonight. Enjoy your time with your brother’s family – and let us know how your squash and stuffing turns out.
I wish the same for you and your family, Dee. I love Thanksgiving and all it means.

Dear Penny, the squash recipe was a flop! But I’m going to tinker with it because I do think it has possibilities. And “I got high hopes. . . pie in the sky hopes!” Peace.

Sorry to hear that, Dee. I made a squash recipe last week with cranberries. It looked so good, but, was not. Maybe it was just the squash. Keep those “pie in the sky hopes” going, dear Dee. Thanks for letting me know how it went.

Ha! I know what you mean, Janet. I went to the store this morning, thinking I would avoid the scurry of crowds. Not so. I think I have what I need (as opposed to what I might want) and need to get organized. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
