The view outside our windows is an emerald sea these days, from our worn out lawn wearing a freshened suit of moss, to the emerging leaves on trees and bushes. The ferns are unfurling, the lily of the valley showing tiny buds, and the roses are promising blooms sometime soon. I feel a bit like Kermit the Frog, only with a positive spin on the words to the song that helped to make him famous, as I sing out “it is easy being green”.
On a recent walk around Lake Katherine, one of Kermit’s relatives was splashing in the mud,
and a pair of Mallards became mighty friendly as they waddled over to where Tom and I were bench sitting, begging for a handout. Mrs. Mallard came a-quacking right over to our knees. As tempting as it is, I do not bring morsels of bread to feed geese and ducks as it is not good for them to take food from strangers now, is it?
Well, I have a bit of list a mile long today, so, I’d best get off of this log I’ve been sitting upon, and get out and about with the day before me, which includes finishing up “Mrs. Queen Takes the Train”, composing the minutes from a meeting I’m charged to do, give the basil sitting on the countertop a home in a pot on the deck, and maybe sit for a spell in the arbor and count my blessings.
This is such a lovely post. I am enjoying the green all around as well. It is a perfect time to sit and count your blessings. Spring is a time of renewal and rejoicing. Enjoy.

Thank you very much, Janet. Even with the clouds most of the day today, the colors here were lush and green. Blessing counting time is a good time to have – that and having a new grandchild. Thinking of you.

Just love the mallard as well as those turtles! You hit the jackpot on your walk. I hope you get to savor all the many shades of green this weekend—our honeysuckle is blooming and blackberry summer has ended. Warm days are on the way!

It is such fun this time of year, isn’t it Marilyn? Oh how I envy you that honeysuckle. Such a sweet, sweet smell. Can the blackberries really have ended there already? Today was quite chilly, but, the greens continue to enchant us here and warmer weather is also on its way. Enjoy this weekend.

I always enjoy your posts especially this lovely one with all of the blessings of spring in it. Thanks. (Yesterday we had a hard rain and thunderstorm and afterward saw a pair of mallards under a tree in our yard!) Yes, let’s count our blessings.

Thank you for saying so – and you are most welcome. How lovely that must have been, after the storm, to see a pair of mallards in your yard. Such joy these visits of nature are as we count our blessings.

Lovely to see the world around the Cutoff waking up with such exuberance, Penny. How are the deer?

The deer are rather quiet this year, Kate, though I hesitate to say so for who knows what they will then be up to? No fawn yet. We usually see them end of May or early June. What I’m anxious to see are the den of fox living under the neighbor’s garage. Karen tells me she saw five kits.

Oooh, how lovely! A very exciting development!

Rest assured, if the kits should appear, I will be at the ready with my camera.

Such celebration in this post Penny, along with some humour;. It has a bouncy, spring-like feel to it – and I love the green window.

It is a clear, leaded glass window we have here, Juliet, with a large snowball bush outside. The sun was coming in magnificently the other day and I just had to capture it to share. Thank you.

Glad to know spring is now green with you, Penny as it is at last with us. Even the hedgerows and trees are catching up at last. 🙂

So happy to hear that all is catching up to spring there, Perpetua. Yesterday was sunny, but cold. Today, it may hit the seventies or even eighty degrees. Spring is being a bit testy, but, we are up for it, enjoying the green and the blossoms, which are profuse this year. Enjoy!

Whereas we had hail and heavy rain today and have just been given a forecast of possible wet snow tomorrow! Sigh….

I am sorry to hear this. After your long, long winter, it is the last forecast you need there. You know the snow won’t last long, but, at this point, when it should be springtime, it doesn’t seem to matter much about now. Here’s to blue skies and rainbows.

I kinda’ like sitting on my particular log.. and find it quite enjoyable for quite long stretches of time. Probably why I seem to take a lot of pictures of turtles when we go nature walking!

It seems to happen so suddenly, indeed, Belle. We’ve had a bit of cooler weather, which has kept the tulips in bloom for well over a week. They often bloom and then it heats up and the lose their petals quick as a wink. Not this year. Thank you.

Dear Penny, a lovely, peace-filled post that ended with you counting your blessings. I’ve concluded after twelve years of keeping a gratitude journal in which I write each night that gratitude gentles the heart. Peace.

A gratitude journal is such a good practice, isn’t it, Dee? I agree. Gratitude does gentle the heart – something I often, very often, need to do to remind myself to be grateful. Peace to you as well, Dee, and I hope that you are feeling better.

Dear Penny, thank you for the health wishes. I actually had four days in a row in which I had no Meniere’s headache. It was so wonderful. The fifth day started well but then I had a slight dizzy spell and a bad headache. But thus far today I’m feeling “fine and dandy, like sugar candy!!!!!” Peace.

“fine and dandy, like sugar candy” – I hope your day stays just like that, Dee, with no residual effects of the headache and dizzy spell. I’ve learned so much about Meniere’s from you and wish you well, my dear.
