The garden gods DID smile down upon us, and the day dawned with promise. An overcast sky allowed homeowners to open their gates and vendors to unload their wares without the heat of the sun beating down. Later, the clouds lifted, the sun came out, the humidity dropped and it was a most excellent day for a garden walk.
The ladies of the club, the Elmhurst Garden Club that is, and their sons, daughters, husbands, nephews and friends arrived to help, bring coffee, set up welcoming ticket tables at the featured gardens (and decorate them with flowers and hard candy). Area organizations volunteer at these entry tables. Scholarship winners were available in Wilder Mansion where members were available and where many of members brought floral arrangements they crafted for sale. Isn’t it amazing how a vase of flowers can bring a smile to one’s face?
All-in-all, it was a delightful affair – our Afternoon in the Garden. Please, come with me, through the garden gate, and see a bit of what I saw along the way – and please accept my gratitude for all your well wishes. 🙂
Gorgeous photos Penny! Knowing that you had good weather for your garden walk added to my enjoyment of our weather that day! 😀

Thanks, Janet.
Wasn’t it a glorious day? It just kept getting better and better, especially as the humidity dropped. Did you get to the Arboretum?

I love your garden walk and I am so glad the sun decided to come out. I am out of town and seeing this only on my phone. I will look forward to being at home to see the photos again on the big screen.

Well, y’all come back and see it on the big screen, Janet. Not much phone on the cell phone, but, where would we be without them these days? We couldn’t believe how well the weather became on Sunday. Safe travel.

Thank you for all the pictures.

Well now, I am mighty glad to hear that, Marilyn, and I hope to bring the walk to you for many years to come. “) I usually take many more pictures, but, this was one of those years . . .
You are welcome. Came home and found Midnight wandering around, begging for milk. Great way to end my day.

I do hope you make it one of these years, Andra. Sunday’s walk was quite lush with blossoms and blooms – and really nice gardeners. The colors are really starting to come out and it was a great event.

It all looks wonderful, Penny, and I’m so glad the weather was kind to you in the end. It would have been so sad if all the hard preparatory work had been wasted.

It was wonderful, Perpetua, and we were all amazed at how the rain stopped, the clouds lifted, and the gardens shone. We were all most concerned for the homeowners, who worked so hard to have their gardens ready for the day.

Oh YAY! This is lovely to read Penny — It’s such a job to get ready for this I’m sure – for the garden-owners and for the Club volunteers. . So glad it was a perfect day.
We have an unexpected internet connection here in Deadhorse (the end of the world basically)… so I’m using it to catch up with some of my favorite bloggers (at least until I fall asleep after a heavy travel day). Catch up with you when we get back to civilization.
