Wow, you are fast, Karen. I barely hit “publish” and here you are, with me wishing you were here, enjoying this blossom with me, sipping on something. The sun just came out. Keep smiling.

Wow! Enlarged, it is one glorious photo! Is the little “flower” inside a reflection or part of the center?

That’s the stigma, Teresa – and it does look like another flower. I just can’t quite figure out that little bug is a bee or an ant. I adore morning glories, especially this variety, which is called Heavenly Blue.

Oh what a beautiful morning (glory). I see a little bug bonus there too.

Oh what a beautiful day 🙂 and yes, the bug was a bonus. Not sure if it is a bee or an ant.

My money is on “bee,” Penny. 🙂
Thought you might be interested to see the critter that sat with me at our family reunion last Saturday. She sat on my hand for quite awhile and then we shifted her to my brother-in-law’s hand for a different photo angle. I took her back and then left her on a large leaf near the river’s edge. Her wings were translucent and like stained glass: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10202746172199047&set=pcb.10202746195879639&type=1&theater
Research on Sunday (’cause I couldn’t stand not knowing who she was) revealed: http://www.pbase.com/crocodile/image/33336058

Think you may be correct on that, Karen. The bee it is.
Wow! The link won’t show your Facebook page, but, the other link did. What an interesting little insect. From the article you link to, I wonder if it tapped on your hand? The wings are so interesting. It reminds me of a dragonfly, but, much more sedate. I love these little life encounters – and appreciate you sharing it. You know me well, Karen. Feel free to resend the link to your Facebook page if you want to.

Actually, she wasn’t tapping; I think she knew it wasn’t the right surface. I did, however, watch her actually licking my skin….Salt? Am putting the link in here again, because it’s a better picture than the research photo…shows her size and the iridescence of her wings; those spots were actually purple. The link in my first comment opened when I clicked just now, so please try it again here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10202746172199047&set=pcb.10202746195879639&type=1&theater — or try copying and pasting into your browser. So frustrating when FB won’t cooperate! 🙂

Still not working for me, Karen. I’ve tried on my cell, laptop, computer – says no content. I went to your Facebook page and it doesn’t show there for me either. I’m enchanted by your words and would love to see those wings and colors. I’ll try again later. I don’t do much on Facebook, but, you can try friending me and we can see if that works. Frustrating – but, I don’t give up easily, my friend.

I love those flowers and almost never see them down south.

They are one of my favorites, Andra, even if they do signal seasonal change is beginning.

Beautiful morning glory. I planted some of that color this year and they are all vines. Have not seen one bloom! The mixed colored ones are blooming in another spot, but they can’t hold a candle to the blue ones. Enjoy!

Mine are more viney than usual this year, Joyce. The weather, I suppose. I have another that is a deep maroon, but, planted this “Heavenly Blue” variety this year. It is my absolute favorite. One hung on well into the afternoon today, which was overcast. 🙂

I love this photo. Breathtaking. Did you ever notice that wild morning glories stay open much longer on cloudy days than on sunny ones? I just like that about them. On cloudy days we sometimes need Morning Glories. Don’t you think?

Yes. I have noticed that, Janet. In fact, there was one, just one, of these Heavenly Blue blooms yesterday, well into the afternoon, the only patch of blue on a very overcast day. I kept looking out, and there it was, smiling at me, and I do think, indeed, that all cloudy days need Morning Glories. That would be a great book title.
Thank you, Janet. 🙂

Penny, I think I’ve figured out the glitch….this isn’t MY photo. My sister Kathy took it and shared it to my page, so her privacy settings are probably in the way. I will happily friend you on FB (as I have other bloggers), but I don’t know how to find you there. If you’d rather not put that connection out here, please send a friend request my way, or email me: kaycee18@mchsi.com We WILL find a connection so you can see this critter in all her glory! 🙂

I’m on Facebook as Penny O’Neill if you friend me, that would be great. I don’t do much there, but, have a page. Please, do friend me, Karen, and let’s see if that will work. I can’t wait to see your close encounter with this interesting critter. 🙂

Here’s a flower I can grow, too! 🙂 There are so many we can’t seem to share. But these grow easily and aren’t they reminiscent of old fashioned gardens and just look at that color!

Yea! This one is my favorite color, Debra, and is called Heavenly Blue. It’s pretty common here and I’ve had it at both houses we’ve owned.

Oh, Penny, I hope you’ll please find my page on FB (you will have my photo, lives in LaGrange, from Chicago as aids), and send a friend request to me!!
There are a gazillion Penny O’Neills on FB, and with the limited info I know about you, it’s not possible to pick the right Penny from the crowd in order to send a friend request! When I’m online my FB page is always open, so I’ll see a request pretty quickly. I did tell my sister today that I needed her to change her privacy setting for that particular photo and she will, IF she remembers. If we’re friends, you can see pretty much any of my photos you’d choose to look at — nothing to hide and I don’t publish the REALLY unflattering ones! 🙂
I’d like to try to grow Hollyhocks — flowers I remember from one of the places we lived when I was quite young, and something I don’t see much anymore.
Looking forward to a friend request!

Sigh. For some unknown reason (at least to me) I can’t seem to send you a friend request. I’ve just sent you an email in hopes that we can soon connect.
Yikes. I didn’t know there were that many of me? hehe See if the link works. If it doesn’t, we can work from there. This may finally compel me to do more on FB.
Here’s to figuring this out. 🙂
