Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now
For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet
Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
It hasn’t snowed a single flurry
But Santa, dear, we’re in a hurry
So climb down the chimney
Turn on the brightest string of light I’ve ever seen
Slice up the fruitcake
It’s time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough
For I’ve grown a little leaner
Grown a little colder
Grown a little sadder
Grown a little older
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder
Need a little CHristmas now
For we need a little music
Need a little laughter
Need a little singing
Ringing through the rafter
And we need a little snappy
“Happy ever after”
Need a little Christmas now
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Penny!

Things are finally getting decorated around here. I enjoy the decorating, but want to savor the experience and I’m seldom home for any long block of time. But the tree is up and the ornaments are in place and I have just a few details to finish. I love your eclectic ornaments on your tree. I do the same. I have ornaments from students dating back to the 70s and, of course, my own children as well. I did not put the pasta nativity decorations on the tree at the request of my children, but I still have them.
Warmest wishes for this most special season for all of you.

i know what you mean about savoring the experience, Janet; me too. Every ornament has a story, though, I must admit we do not have a pasta nativity. đŸ™‚ The first tree photo is ours. The second one, with the tree up to the ceiling, is a friend, Carolyn’s, who invites gardening friends over to see her very old fashioned tree. You would like it. They cut it down themselves and it is covered with all sorts of old ornaments and drips with old fashioned tinsel.
Of course, one of my very favorite Christmas trees is the one two young coeds walked miles and miles for and dragged up six flights of stairs and . . .
Warmest wishes for you and yours too, Janet.

That’s a new Christmas song to me, Penny and I loved your accompanying images. Not many decorations here, but the crib is up and my flight of angels hangs from the chandelier in the new house, not the beams as in the past. Warmest Christmas greetings to you and Tom.

Thank you, Perpetua. It sounds like you have decorated with just the right amount for now and sounds both festive an meaningful. The song is from the musical, Mame, and plays here often over the Christmas season. I love Angela Lansbury, who played the part of Auntie Mame. Thank you for your Christmas greetings, and I wish the same to you and DH.

One of my favorite songs of the seasons! Dame Angela does it proud.
I ran across this quote by Augusta E. Rundel and thought you might like it.
“Christmas-that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance. It may weave a spell of nostalgia. Christmas may be a day of feasting or of prayer, but it will always be a day of remembrance-a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.”
And we do need a little Christmas spirit all through the year.
Merry Christmas and Happy 2015!

Mine, too, Marilyn. Isn’t Dame Angela wonderful?
What a wonderful quote. I keep a commonplace place book, where I put quotes. Be rest assured that I will be putting Augusta E. Rundel’s in in along with your name as the person I received it from, Marilyn. Thank you. It captures the essence of Christmas, doesn’t it?
We do, indeed, need Christmas spirit all year long. Most of these photos are of our home, but, a few are bits of Christmas spirit from friends. đŸ™‚
Merry Christmas, my friend.

I had entirely forgotten Angela Lansbury’s rendition of this wonderful son, Penny! I enjoyed that. But not nearly as much as your bits and pieces of Christmas spirit. It came right on through and spread delight. Where in the world did you get those marvelous shoes! LOL! Those are snappy alright! I’ll bet Kezzie would like to wear those around the house. And your very sophisticated photo is a real keeper! I saw it on FB and thought it was wonderful. I hope you keep the spirit of Christmas well into the new year…something tells me you will! đŸ™‚ Thank you for sharing it. It’s definitely infectious!

Isn’t Angela grand?
I have had those shoes for at least 15 years. They don’t get much wear, so last. tee hee I bought them at Nordstroms and they’ve come out to be about $3 a year investment. đŸ™‚ I have thought of passing them on to Goodwill, but, now that you mention it, they will be fun to keep around for Kezzie.
Thank you, Debra.
