Your new header is fantastic-and your reflection makes it even better!
I understand the Calm after the storms and grieve for all your neighbors who are suffering in the aftermath of the tornadoes. This day is the anniversary of some of the worst ones here that we have experienced. Life as those people knew it will never be the same.
It brings to mind one of my favorite quotes and probably yours as well:
“For winter’s rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins.”
Algernon Charles Swinburne, Atalanta in Calydon
Hope your weekend is a special one.

Oh, Marilyn, thank you for this lovely, tender poem, which is new to me and all-the-sweeter for you giving it to me across the miles. I did not know this one, though “time remembered is grief forgotten” rings a bell.
My heart goes out to all whose lives are so devastated by the tornadoes this week and yes, indeed yes, there lives will never be the same. These April storms are so fierce, aren’t they?
Today was lovely; good weather, blossoms appearing, birds chirping – and yesterday Midnight came begging at the door.

Daffodils… And a beautiful granddaughter. A perfect combination. Now I am being paid back for feeling smug about winter sunshine … Thank you for sharing the spring bounty (that you didn’t need to search for in your archives as I did.)

Well, now, Sallie, these photos are very current, but, the daffodil in my previous post was pulled out of my archives from 2010! 🙂 We all go fishing from time-to-time. Your winter sunshine was like a balm for my winter weary soul; loved seeing it and hearing about it.
Thank you. Her daddy gave them to her for her birthday, which was such a sweet thing to do. Have a good weekend.

Love your header!
I really needed this post. Today was a day when I needed to slow down and do just that–smell the flowers. Since I don’t have any, seeing your pictures is the next best thing.

Beautiful bouquets and that is an especially lovely little flower peeking out from behind that bunch of daffodils!

The little sweetie was given those daffodils from her daddy for her birthday when they were in. Really special. Thank you, Janet. I just love flowers, which you already know.
I hope you are outside on this gorgeous day. I was at the Morton yesterday and it was busy but not too crowded. Today I’m sure it is packed.

I rarely go there on a Sunday because it usually is too crowded for me, especially when the weather is nice. It looks like it’s clouding up a bit here now, I hope the day doesn’t take a turn for the worse!

I’ll add my approval of the new header, too, Penny. It’s fantastic! I love the flowers and the sense of calm they do relay. I saw photos of the utter destruction from the tornado rampage and was immediately concerned that spring could bring so much devastation. I lost a friend this week. You know, sometimes it’s just really important to focus on something beautiful and appreciate calm! I have wondered if you’re celebrating Orthodox Easter in your home this weekend? I remember that last year you had multiple celebrations. However you are celebrating, I hope that calm is at the center. 🙂

I needed to spruce the site up a bit, Debra; what better way than with a grandchild.? 🙂 She thought it was funny to see Yia Yia’s reflection.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Losing friends is always so sad, piercing our hearts. I’ll be thinking of you, Debra, and sending prayers. I hope these flowers, and ones you find nearby, help soothe your soul in the weeks ahead.
Thank you for remembering that it is the Orthodox Easter. This year, I’m not doing anything big, but, do have a lamb to roast later, and yes, I am keeping a calm at my center – and breathing lighter, my friend.

I am so very blessed to have them all around me, Juliet, and they were quite fragrant. I didn’t show the lilies a guest brought to our home. They were are spent now, but, oh the fragrant joy. 🙂
