Oh Penny! I so loved this post! Love, love, loved it. I needed this reminder. The music of The Sound of Music is one of my favorite things. Loved your photos! Your posts make me happy!
Jane Austen’s books, a good tea outing with a friend, a whimsical crochet pattern–these also make me happy.

Thank you very much, L. Marie. I love the Sound of Music, and this just came to me at a moment when I needed it and I needed to share it.
Those are such joyful things. Just reading about them makes me smile. 🙂

The collage of photos was precious! My favorites are daffodils, Emily Dickinson’s poems, lap cats and HOME! Have a special weekend.

I love daffodils, Marilyn. There are such happy, hopeful flowers. I know your love of Emily Dickinson, and find myself seeking her poetry more and more because of you. HOME! Yes, indeed (and we have had a Midnight sighting).
Thank you, Marilyn. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Perfect timing Penny. As always thank you for being on my wave length and expressing it so well. Just as on day-after-Election Day, what made me happy yesterday was to talk to a couple of my kids (on the phone this time) and now to spend the next few days outdoors walking in nature as much as I can. . ( I love the song and your perfect illustrations).

Sallie, you are kind and you are most welcome. Conversations with our children always seem to be the most favorite of things, don’t they? Glad you were able to talk with a few of yours – and look forward to perhaps seeing some photos of your nature walks (and some birds ? ). Have a great day.

Penny, you always lift my spirits. What makes me happy: a walk, a recent birthday dinner with my husband, talking to my niece and a good book to read on a long flight.

I am sure they are, Juliet. They light up a room and our hearts, don’t they? I love the song and it just kept playing in my head . . .

Everything about your “list” made me smile, Penny. I frequently say that my two grandchildren are the joy and light in my life! And lately, they’ve been a great comfort just by being two sweet dears! Our dog is also one of my favorite things. LOL! She’s such a loyal and faithful furry friend. She makes us laugh. My garden and the Pacific Ocean are my non-human favorites. I’m going to be honest and tell you that today was a hard day…and you just lifted my spirits in a big way! I need to stay focused on MY favorite things. 🙂 (I love seeing Ezra. He’s really growing up!!)

I am so pleased to hear it, Debra. Nothing brings joy like a grandchild. Joy supreme. I am sorry to learn that you are having a rough time, understand, and glad to lift your spirits, even if only for a short while. As you might guess, I posted this as an antidote to my own troubling moments. We can help pull each other up, my friend; you surely do. 🙂
Ezra is growing like a weed – but much more charming. 🙂 Thank you.

Love, love, love your favorite things, Penny! I couldn’t help singing along. 🙂 Making handmade cards and writing letters are two of my favorite things. The entire time, I am thinking about that special person. It always feels like a little visit with a loved one. This week I will be working on valentines! It’s the little things that make my heart sing! ♡
