Tell all the Truth but tell it slant –
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth’s superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind – Emily Dickinson
Beautiful, Penny!

Lovely! I especially like the photo of the bleeding hearts, my favorite flower. Last year my husband did some landscaping and confessed that he’d accidentally destroyed my bleeding heart plant. Luckily, he hadn’t! It came up in two distinct places, just as beautiful as before.

I can imagine your joy when you found your bleeding heart re-appear in not one, but two spots in your garden. They are such hardy troopers and bring such ephemeral joy come spring. Thank you Sue.

‘The truth must dazzle gradually’ – what a superb line.
Oddly enough, I’ve just picked up my little book of Emily Dickinson poems two days ago, so I enjoyed your beautiful images with her words, especially the moon shaped drips hanging from the tree trunk. Thank you Penny, for bringing such pleasure into my day.

I agree, Juliet – it is a superb line.
It must be an Emily Dickinson time of year right now, whether in your winter or our spring. 🙂 Thank you, Juliet.

Beautiful photos Penny. I’ve had to read the poem over a couple times to absorb it – my brain must be getting lazy!

Dear Penny, thanks for sharing this Dickinson poem. It has always brought to my mind the Sinai story and also the burning bush–Moses having to cover his eyes before the truth of his god. The blaze of truth can blind us. It’s left me gasping for breath sometimes.
Emily and Hopkins are my two favorite poets. Peace.

You are so very welcome, Dee. Yes. It Dickinson’s words do bring the burning bush to mind. I had not thought of that and appreciate reading it now. I have had many-a-moment of recognition – blazing truth.
Thank you, Dee. Peace.
