I did, indeed, Janet and I’m sure many of us have learned from these simple things. This idea of showing up in life is so powerful.

Lovely, thoughtful words. I know you learned such things from your Mother, Yia Yia, and your Aunt. Kindness is inherited.
Thank you for sharing.

You are very welcome, Janet. This has been such an unsettling, uncertain time in which I often feel helpless. This poem resonated with me and encourages me to just show up in life. Thank you. I have learned from many.

What a beautiful piece of writing! I couldn’t agree more. It brings up so many things that I’ve missed in these quarantine days. But the need to bring healing to others–I thoroughly agree. So necessary these days when so many people are facing losses.

I have as well, L. Marie.I think each and every one of us feels loss during these times in so many different ways. I awake each day with a small prayer “Lord make me a blessing in someone’s life today”.

Dear Penny, yes, we are so fortunate that our mothers taught us to embrace life and be present to those who accompany us, for however long (the space of buying a bag of frozen corn or the years of friendship and marriage), through this journey we call life.
My mom taught me to sing and to dance while singing. To sing away the blue thoughts that might haunt me. And to dance away the fear that might struggle to capture my essence. Mom sang and danced through a hard life and that is but one part of her legacy to me. I am so grateful for her. Peace.
