Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away,
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here,
All simply in the springing of the year.
Robert Frost – A Prayer in Spring
(Now, if I could only figure out where the patch of poison ivy is that I seemed to have stepped into; itch, itch!)
I love Robert Frost, and what a wonderful snippet for this time of year…hope the itching ceases soon 🙂

I so love this poem. But when I saw ‘a little frost’ I was hoping for Jack Frost, the tv series starring David Jason. :<) One of my great favorites. Sorry about the poison ivy. Yuck.

A Touch of Frost – yes! I haven’t thought of that in a long while, Nan. Thanks for thinking of it. Isn’t it a lovely poem. Frost is a favorite of mine.
Yea! I must find the culprit and take drastic measures – just as soon as I stop itching.

Oh no, poison ivy! Sorry to hear that Penny! No matter how many times I am shown an example of what poison ivy looks like, I forget what it looks like. Lovely poem!

Thanks, Janet. We have so much brush here that I’m not quite sure where I stepped into it. At least I didn’t sit in it.! Phew! Robert Frost has always been a favorite of mine. If my memory serves me correctly, you Anton was quite into poetry at one time, wasn’t he? That really impressed me.

Anton is still into poetry. He carries poetry books around with him that he reads on the train and in coffee shops. Recently he recommended the book of poems “Sailing Alone Around the Room” by Billy Collins to me because he thought I’d like it. I have it and occasionally read a poem from it, which is enjoyable, but I have to admit I never acquired a taste for poetry like my son’s. He has it down to the significance of each word and why it is chosen!

I remember seeing him as a young college student in the Chocolate Moon, reading poetry and talking to him about it. It was impressive then, and still is. Not everyone enjoys poetry and it sounds like Anton is a poet at heart.
